A self-portrait
I'm John Seddon, the photographer behind Lost / Future Studio.
I have been making images professionally for 10 years. The first time I saw a Wet Plate Photograph I was immediately captivated. The physical beauty and timeless look was unlike anything I had seen before. To me, it is the antidote to an increasingly digital world.
My background is in the film industry. I trained originally in the UK and since then I have been working as a Director and Director of Photography here in the UAE and abroad, where I shoot high-end digital video for commercial and documentary projects.
However, I have always been drawn to analogue and human-centric imagine making. I love the purity, texture and beautiful imperfections of non-digital formats. Digital images are fleeting, cheap and ultimately untrustworthy.
Here we are creating unique physical works of art. Each image is truly one of a kind, full of natural beauty from both the subject and the process.
